A Celebration of Life Service for Thomas (Tommy) Wade Cheatwood will be held at Antioch Baptist Church of Oxford on Wed. the 13 of July 2016, at 2:00 PM. After a long fight with illness, Tommy went to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday July 9 at his home. The Rev. Tommy Reaves, Rev. Scott Smith, Jimmy Denham & Chief Gary Sparks will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday family time at 5 PM and friends, 6-8 PM at the church. Tommy is survived by his mother, Elaine Thomas Cheatwood, grand-parents Joe and Joyce Cheatwood, one uncle, William Wayne Cheatwood, one great- uncle, Paul Brown, three great – aunts, Addis Lawler, Margie Feazell and Faye Bryant, Mackenzie Ward and caregiver and cousin Linda Peters. Pallbearers will be the Oxford Fire Dept. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Ball, Gary Austin, Ricky Gilchrist, Phil Pearce and Tim Haynes. Tommy is preceded in death by his dear ole dad, Jody Wade Cheatwood, grand – parents, Lovell and Elwyn Thomas, one aunt Debra J. Thomas, one uncle Wallace L. Cheatwood. Tommy loved the Lord, would ask anyone if they were a Christian and going to Heaven. He loved everyone and had a smile that could melt your heart. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he worked with the bed babies and toddlers for 20 years. He attended Wellborn High where he was in Bo Meadow’s TMR class, he graduated in 1988. He loved singing for the Lord and sang with his parents. Tommy served with the Oxford Fire Dept. as an honorary member for 24 years with his dad, he was well taken care of by this group of men they loved him and he loved them. It was an honor to have been his mother because he was a total joy! When his health was good he lead an active life camping, traveling, cross country, flying with his grand – dad, fishing, driving his boat or pontoon, and would go play golf with his dad. He was also on the Special Olympic Swim Team where he won a gold and 2 silver metals. Tommy was a walking talking miracle special gift from GOD. He knew more about the bible than a lot of preachers! In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to St. Jude Cancer Center for Children, which was his favorite charity. He would pray for these children and their parents everyday that they would draw strength from GOD! Miller Funeral Home
