Norman Lester Cole

Norman Lester Cole, 72, of Oxford, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on 12/30/2025 at his home. His life was a testament to hard work, faith, and unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends. His Savior welcomed him home and Norman is celebrating the new year with Jesus and his parents. He was born to Melvin Lester Cole and Pearl Key Cole, on 07/18/1953 in Anniston, Alabama. He graduated from Oxford High School and was a member of the Class of 1971. He attended college at Jacksonville State University. Norman was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and Blue Springs Baptist Church where over the years he held several positions such as: Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and Youth Leader. Currently, he is an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Norman loved life and enjoyed spending time making memories with his wife of 47 years, Audrey, his family, and many friends. One of his greatest joys was being "Pop-Pop" to his Grandchildren. Norman was an outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting, and fishing, especially with his best friends since grade school: Mike, Charlie, and Brady. Since his retirement, he and Audrey loved road trips, exploring new towns and discovering new restaurants and telling EVERYONE how good..... or bad they were. He was extremely quick-witted and loved to tell jokes to make people laugh (especially, his beloved Sunday School Class). He was often the comic relief that you didn't know you needed. His smiles and gentle-giant demeanor will be greatly missed. Norman and Audrey were married on January 7, 1978, in Oxford, AL and were just shy of celebrating their 48t wedding anniversary. Together they raised 2 wonderful children: Jeremy D. Cole "J.D." (Alex) and Joshua A. Cole "Joshy" (Jodie). He was blessed with five Grandchildren: Kody Crossley, Charlie Crossley, Ashton Stovall, Adallyn Stovall, and Jameson Cole. He thought the world of his sisters: Glenda Whitley, Shirley Ward, and Charlotte Jones. He is survived by his nieces and nephew: Jessica Hicks (Billy), Marcus Jones and Jennifer Williams (Maurice), and many more family and friends. Norman is preceded in death by his Parents, Melvin and Pearl Cole, In-Laws Harold and Louise Allen, and his Nephew, Matthew Jones. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Cole, Mike Montgomery, Charles Montgomery, Mike Brady, Trey Brady, and Mike Pearson. Funeral services will be held Saturdav. Januarv 3rd. 2026. at 2:00 pm at Lakeview Baptist Church in Oxford, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. A burial service will follow at Oxford Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund.
