Lori Hughes Costanzo, 58, of DeArmanville, Alabama passed away on July 24, 2022 due to complications associated with heart failure. The funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday July 28 at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford, Alabama. John Presner of Church of the Highlands Oxford will lead the service. Visitation for Family begins at 11:00am with friends beginning at 12:00pm. A private family burial will follow at the family cemetery on the farm in which she grew up and her family resides. Lori was born in Anniston, Alabama on February 18, 1964. After graduating from The Donoho School in 1982, she received a BS in Nursing from Jacksonville State University. As a registered nurse and a heart for helping and healing people she travelled to Alaska as a nurse missionary where she eventually met the love of her life, Robert Costanzo. They were married on March 26, 1994 and lived in Alaska for 3 years before returning to Alabama. Because Lori loved nursing and wanted to raise her family on a farm she accepted a nursing position at UAB working weekend nights. This allowed her to not only home school six children but also raise dogs, horses, goats and chickens. She was a boutique doodle breeder and has placed puppies in homes from coast to coast as well as several other countries. Lori walked closely with the Lord. She modeled what a true personal relationship with Christ is all about. She knew Him and spent time daily with Him. Lori was a servant leader putting others needs above her own. She hosted small groups. She helped the homeless. She shared her faith. She used her daily interactions with people to share hope, peace, joy and love. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; children Caleb, Lauren, Christopher Mark, Suzanna, James Gray, and Benjamin; her parents, Jane and Dewey Hughes of DeArmanville; siblings Gray Hughes (Shelley) and Amy Hughes Fender (Craig); nieces and nephews: Caroline Irby (Steven), Austin Hughes (Sarah Raegan), Anna Rebekah Hancock (Kyler), Jacob Fender, and Hannah Fender. She leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends. Pallbearers are Lori’s sons Caleb, Christopher Mark, James Gray and Benjamin Costanzo, as well as her two nephews Austin Hughes and Jacob Fender. Lori continued to share her heart until the end. One of her favorite Bible verses was Isaiah 41:10; “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” She is holding His hand now. While we grieve here, she is celebrating eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well as family and friends who made it home before her.
