A Celebration of Life will be held on June 19, 2026, at Camp Lee, in Martha’s Chapel. The service will be at 10:00AM and a visitation will be held before the service at 9:00AM. Officiating the service will be Kevin McDade. Mr. James Howard Stewart Jr. of Munford, Alabama died peacefully in his home, June 8, 2026, at 88 years old. He was born in Anniston, Alabama, on July 29, 1937. Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Howard “Cobb” Stewart and Mother, Toledo Hall Stewart; Brother, Dr. Ronald M. Stewart; Sister, Jane Stewart Griffin; ex. Wife, Rebecca B. Stewart; ex. Wife, Shirley Alverson; Wife, Zula M. Stewart; Son, James Howard Stewart III; and Daughter, Alice Ann Stewart. Jim was survived by his brother, Donald W. Stewart (Lulu); sister-in-law, Loray Stewart; son, David Frank Stewart; daughter, Deborah Stewart Yim (Michael); stepson, Richard Alverson; stepdaughter, Debbie LaRussa; stepson, Steven McConnell; grandsons – Patrick Thomas Yim, Jacob Bailey Boone, Joshua David Boone, Daniel Stewart Yim (Kira); and his great granddaughter, Charlotte Rebecca Yim. Jim grew up in Munford and Anniston, AL and graduated from Anniston High School. He graduated from Auburn University as an Electrical Engineer. Jim, as an Auburn alumnus, has supported the university for decades. He is a prominent sustaining member and donor recognized in the college’s Cupola Society, which honors alumni and friends who provide substantial philanthropic support to engineering programs, through The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. Jim worked for Alabama Power after college and then went on to start his business, Stewart Engineering in Anniston, which he ran for about 40 years. He worked with local architects, Auburn University and many cities and co-ops throughout the state. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Anniston. He served on the board at Camp Lee for several years; 2 of those years were spent serving as Chairman of the Board, contributing to the growth and upgrading the infrastructure of the Camp. Jim had a passion for the family farm in Munford. He enjoyed tending to his gardens and Cows. Jim was a loving and caring son, brother, husband and father. He definitely had the spirit of giving. He took care of his family, friends and so many unnamed people throughout his life. He touched people’s lives with his kindness, generosity and his words of wisdom. Thank you to all the caregivers who provided excellent health care, complete understanding, and kindness during his time at home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Interfaith Ministries in Anniston, Al., or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
