Carolyn Jean Henegar Coffman, age 81, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Miller Funeral Home from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. A funeral service will be held in the Toby Miller Chapel starting at 2:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. She is survived by her children: Steve Coffman and his wife DeAnn, James Randall & Cathy Coffman, and Kelly Coffman Champion and her husband Doug. Carolyn is also survived by her grandchildren: Elyse and Heath Waldrop, Drake and Shelli Champion, Jordan and Tyler Fitzgerald, Hope Champion and fiance, Seth Turner. Great-grandchildren are Luke Smith-Waldrop, Gracie Waldrop and Baby Jack Thomas Fitzgerald, due in October of this year. Carolyn also leaves behind sisters, Bonnie Mitchell and Martha Jo Miller. Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Gene Coffman, as well as her parents William (Bill) and Velma Henegar, her mother-in-law Odeline Coffman, and her sisters Frances Higgins and Ruth Jennings. Honored to serve as Pall Bearers for Carolyn are Doug Champion, Drake Champion, Heath Waldrop, Luke Smith-Waldrop, Tyler Fitzgerald and Seth Turner. Carolyn also known by friends and family as Momma, Maw-Maw, Aunt Cunnie, and Carolyn Sue - (even though her middle name was Jean) was a one-of-a-kind, remarkable lady who never seemed to meet a stranger. She was known to all for not holding back her opinion and had a true talent for telling it like it is. You never had to guess what Carolyn was thinking she was sure to tell you! Carolyn's joy for life and her love of others simply poured out of her... usually in the form of endless chatter. In her final days in the hospital she kept up a running dialogue with her doctors, nurses, and anyone she encountered. Christian author and speaker Andy Andrews made the observation that "Life itself is a privilege, but to live life to the fullest - well that is a choice." Carolyn definitely made that choice in her positive outlook. One of her most frequently stated pieces of advice was "Suck it up and go on!" Although Carolyn had an intense love for her friends, her family, cooking, and snack cakes, her most steadfast and deeply held conviction was her love of the Lord. Carolyn was a life-long believer who found joy in her personal walk with Jesus; however, it was in the last twenty years or so that she found a deep friendship with other believers, especially through her New Beginnings Sunday School class. These ladies shared their faith and their lives with Carolyn and were such a blessing to her. As a well-known social butterfly, Carolyn was also an active participant in the Triple L adventures. Brother Stan and Joannie organized events both near and far ... and Carolyn was up for it all. In these final years of her life, Carolyn was enfolded in the love of her friends, her family, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Grandview Hospital nursing staff for their amazing care during a difficult time.
