William "Gordon" Cox, Jr. was born on July 14, 1957 in El Paso, Texas to William G. Cox, Sr. and Lillie R. (Dooley) Cox. Gordon was a resident of Fairhope, Alabama and Oxford, Alabama for much of his life. He attended Oxford High School and Liberty College. Gordon was preceded in death by his father William G. Cox, Sr., step-father Ronald K Jacobs, maternal and fraternal grandparents, uncle, Carroll Dooley and his brother, Robert E. Cox. Gordon passed away peacfully at home on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. He is survived by his mother Lillie R. Cox, and siblings, Shirley A. Watts (Alan), Michael S. Cox (Sharon), Sandra F. Lula (Jim), Ronald D. Cox (Vickie), Kenneth L. Cox, Karen D. Williams, Sharon C. Blakeley (Mike) and Steven C. Cox (Margaret), along with his aunt Gail Putman, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Gordon was an extremely talented cosmotologist for many years. He loved and admired all the beauty of nature, took great pleasure in fishing and spending time on the water. He enjoyed flower and vegtable gardening and was very accomplished in both. Gordon was also a talented artist who enjoyed oil paintings and loved a vast array of music and books. He could also give the most knowlegable contestant a run for their money at Jeopardy. Gordon had a free, fun-loving spirit and never met a stranger. He was blessed with many beloved friends who held a special place in his heart. The family expresses their sincerest thanks to all of those who have shown such kindness during Gordon's illness, including the doctors, nurses and caregivers
