July 24, 1947 - December 16, 2020
Mrs. Phyllis Anita Rawlings Noah, 73 of Wellington passed away on December 16th, 2020 at her home. Greeting her in heaven include her parents, George A. and Bessie Rawlings; brother, S. George Rawlings; niece, Amy Rawlings; nephew, Andrew Rawlings; mother-in-law, Evelyn Rich; brothers-in-law, Larry Noah and Junior Flint and many other beloved family members. Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 49 years, Bobby Noah; daughters, Shasta Dease (Jonathan) and Cindy (McGlaughn) Dollar (Brent); grandchildren, Kelsey Fagan (Chris), Laura Dease, Nick McGlaughn, Jacob Dease; great-grandchildren, Brennan Jones and Payton Fagan; brother, Wayne Rawlings; sisters-in-law, Donna Rawlings, Patsy Flint, and Becky Noah; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Noah was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 24th, 1947. She was raised in Oxford, Alabama and was a 1965 graduate of Oxford High School where she played the saxophone in the marching band. She has been a resident of Wellington since 1971. Mrs. Noah made her career as a Security Specialist at Fort McClellan, where she served for 31 years before retiring at age 50. She continued to serve her family as “Granny”, taking care of all four grandchildren while their parents worked. She then had the pleasure of being “Granny” to her great grandson, Brennan, caring for him daily while his family worked for the first four years of his life. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church. Our Mama was a very dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for many things but some stand-outs include: expert Saturday morning advice giver; hater of all things retail, yet the first one to go shopping if the Martin’s card got paid off because “we can’t have that”; the first one to ask us “who told you life was fair?” yet always strived to make it so; she loved her family and she loved a good book; daily fried egg sandwich maker for her husband, no matter what time he had to be at work; partner to her best friend and always the best supporting actress to his and her girls shenanigans; the doer, the finder, the fixer and everything in between for her cowboy. The master of sarcastic wit and dry humor; her love of coffee, peanut butter and classic 1950’s music is unmatched ; Song-writer of lullabies (God Loves My Baby), and her incredibly off key rendition of “Barbara Ann”, complete with goofy dance routine that was sure to entertain even the most fussy grandbaby. Words cannot describe the void left in our hearts. Special thanks to Amedisys Home Health and Southern Care/ New Beacon Hospice, most especially Sarah Pennington, for your help and care over the past few months. Also, we would like to thank her cowboy, her husband, our daddy, for paying special attention to her every single need for all this time and pampering her like the undercover princess she always was. There will be a graveside service for friends and family at a later date. The family will receive friends and at her favorite place, her home, on Sunday December 20, from 1 PM until 5 PM. Come as you are and sit a spell.
