Patricia 'Pat' Caffey Kemp
January 1, 1951 - December 6, 2021
Patricia (Pat) Caffey Kemp passed away quietly on December 6, 2021, at National Health Care after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Pat and her twin sister, Margaret (Peg), were born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 1, 1951, where their father, Frank, was in UAB Medical School. The next day the Birmingham News had a large front-page picture of the proud intern holding his New Year's Day twins. The family moved to Anniston in 1952 where Pat graduated from Anniston Academy, now Donahue School in 1969. She was a member of the DD Club. Pat graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Art. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. After graduation she taught art in South Carolina for a year. Then she and her sister Peg moved up to Vermont for a couple of years before returning to Anniston to become travel agents and owners of Model City Travel Agency. Pat was very active in the Anniston Community Theater for many years. She was a member of Revelers Krewe and Matron's Study Club. She was an active member in the Church of Saint Michael and All Angels. She sang in the choir, was on the Altar Guild, and was a lector. But most of all she will be remembered for the many, many beautiful flower arrangements she made for the altar. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Dr. B.F. Caffey, Jr and Margaret Caffey Wells, her stepfather, Robert B. Wells of Anniston, her sister, Jane Caffey Wensley of Westfield MA, her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. B.F. Caffey, Sr of Choccolocco, Alabama, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Woodbury Throckmorton of Guntersville, Alabama. Pat is survived by her sisters, Caroline Caffey Knapp (Ken), Margaret Caffey Tyler (Tracy), both of Anniston, Mary Helen Caffey of Fruithurst, Alabama, her niece Elizabeth Wensley Hunt (Jason) and her nephew, Robert Jefferies Wensley, Westfield, Massachusetts, and her former husband, Donald Kemp of Anniston, Alabama. Pat will long be remembered by her friends and family for her sense of grace and style. She will also be remembered for her loving kindness and thoughtfulness. She was always looking for ways to help others. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Hanna for his wonderful care and support of Pat through the years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, December 11 at St. Michael's and All Angels Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Michael's Church, P.O. Box 1884, Anniston, Alabama 36202.
