A funeral service for M. Richard ‘Buddy’ Dover, 92, of Anniston, will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Toby Miller Chapel at Miller Funeral Home. Bro. Roy Cordle will be officiating. The family will receive friends on the same day from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. A burial will follow at Forestlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Dover passed away on February 16, 2020. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Dover Bryant (Bennie); grandchildren, Kerry Dewayne Channell, John Christopher Channell, Patrick Allen Bryant; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother in law, Emory McDougal, and a host of extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Stephens Dover; daughter, Anita Ellen “Charlie” Channell; son, Richard Eugene Dover; parents, Roscoe and Maude Dover; sisters, Ruby Snelling, Mary McDougal and a brother, Roy Dover. Pallbearers will be Patrick Bryant, John Channell, Kerry Channell, Neal Brittian, Rick Goodwin, Wayne Medders, Rick Hale, and Bobby Wages. Honorary pallbearers will be men from New Haven Baptist Church. Mr. Dover retired from Anniston Sportswear. He was the last founding member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Anniston and was currently a member at New Haven Baptist Church. When he was physically able, he loved working in the church in any aspect he was needed. Mr. Dover loved gardening, listening to gospel music, helping those in need and sharing his faith and love for his Lord and Savior. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Margaret Davenport, Encompass Home Health and Hospice, the staff at Stringfellow RMC, and to his church family and friends for the love and care they have shown Mr. Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any lupus or ovarian cancer research group of your choice.
