Mr. John Turner

A funeral service for Mr. John Turner, 77 of Ohatchee, will be on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Toby Miller Chapel at Miller Funeral Home. A burial will follow the service at Iron City Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Hays will be officiating. The family will receive friends on the same day from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Mr. Turner passed away on January 21, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Melda Littlejohn Turner; son, John Turner and his girlfriend, Cynthia; daughter, Amy Hudgins; grandchildren, John Michael (Destiny), Joseph, Krista, Tiffany, Cheyenne, MiKayla, Butch, Ben, Cassey ; great grandchildren, Goku, Anna Marie, Aliyah, Lily; siblings, Cooper and Sandra Turner, Brenda Turner, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cooper and Bessie Turner; son, Michael Joseph Turner; brother, Willie Ronald Turner, and a sister, Peggy Jo Turner. Pallbearers will be John Michael Usrey, Joseph Hudgins III, David Hudgins, and Butch McGowin. Mr. Turner attended White Plains where he played basketball. He was a Cub Scout Leader and coached baseball in Oxford and Ohatchee. Mr. Turner worked at US Pipe as a molder. He was also a volunteer firefighter and first responder in Mt. Olive. Mr. Turner was a basket maker and was a featured artist at many art festivals. He was a devout Auburn fan. Mr. Turner’s favorite title was Papa to his own grandchildren as well as many others. He was always happy to aggravate those around him. Mr. Turner will be greatly missed by all those who love him.
