Wellington- Services for Edna McKenzie Smith, 81, will be on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Saks Baptist Church in Anniston with Rev. Daniel Harper and Rev. Rodney Gilmore officiating. Burial will be following the service at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Home from 5:30 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Mrs. Smith passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Survivors include her daughter, Paula Smith (David); son, Joe Beard (Sheila); granddaughters, Jennifer Davis (Jason) and Marilyn Smith; grandsons, Chris Beard (Kelly) and David R. Smith, Jr. (Caryn); 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Mildred Williams; sister in law, Matt Chumley, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her first husband, Troy Calvin Beard; second husband, Wallace E. Smith; her parents, George Henry Sr. and Dovie Lee McKenzie; her brothers, James Clayton McKenzie and George Henry McKenzie, Jr., and her sister, Martha Butterworth. Pallbearers will be friends, grandsons, and nephews: Brian Rosenbalm, Chris Beard, George Williams, Tim McCord, Jason Williams, Jimmy McKenzie, Doug McKenzie, John Burris, Bill Chumley, and Michael Butterworth. Honorary pallbearers will be the Lydia Sunday School Class of Saks Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith retired from federal service. She was a member of the Saks Baptist Church. She was a member of The McKenzie Family and sang with her brothers and sister for many years. She will be missed by her family and friends, but what a reunion she is enjoying now. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of Amedisys Hospice and Shirley’s Angels.
