Doris Mae ‘Gig’ Thompson

The funeral service for Doris Mae Thompson “Gig”, age 91, of Oxford, will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 1 pm at Miller Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Keith Dempsey, her nephew, and Ronny Moore, her Pastor. The family will receive friends on the same day from 11 am to 1 pm at Miller Funeral Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Richard “Dick” Thompson, and is survived by her children, Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Thompson Fritts (Walter deceased), Betty Ann Thompson Wilson (Jim), and James Darren Thompson (Tracy); grandchildren, Ryan Neil Fritts, William Everett Wilson, Kana Nicole Thompson, Lindley Brooke Thompson, Nicolas Cade Thompson; great-grandchildren, Carli Bennett Fritts, Callie Dempsey Fritts, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Christine Harmon and Edna Edmondson; brothers, Jack Dempsey, L.D. Dempsey, Fred Dempsey, Ray Dempsey, and Sammy Dempsey. Our mother was a kind and loving mom. She loved to work in her flower garden always keeping it well-manicured. Even as her health declined she was always concerned about her flowers. She always made sure we were well fed and cared for. She was an amazing cook and served the best southern comfort food with recipes handed down from generations of friends and family. “Mother” was a wonderful Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
