Mr. David Hulion Mooney Sr.

September 29, 1955 - January 27, 2022

David Hulion Mooney, Sr. unexpectedly passed away on January 27, 2022 at the age of 66 while at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, AL. David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen Mooney; his children, David H. Mooney, Jr. (Brandi) and Laura Mooney Posey (Martin); his grandchildren, Trey Mooney, Berkley Mooney, Violet Posey, Zane Posey, and his mother Shirley Mooney; his brother, Mike Mooney (Angie); his sister Rita Schneider (Bruce), his nephews Houston Mooney, John Mooney, Doug Schneider, Kurt Schneider, and Stephen Schneider and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Hulion Mooney. David was born on September 29, 1955 to Hulion and Shirley Mooney in Cleveland, MS. David was a graduate of Greenville High School. David enjoyed his time on the ball-field whether it be high school and college baseball or his 20 plus years of men’s fastpitch softball where he made life-long friends. Of the many accomplishments in David’s life one of his biggest joys was being a Granddaddy to his grandchildren. He would never miss a ball game as it brought him pure joy to see his grandchildren doing something they loved. He never missed a chance to be at the ball-field cheering on his grandkids and their teammates. David will be remembered by many as a caring, compassionate, and loving husband, father, granddaddy, and coach to many. A visitation service is scheduled for February 2nd, 2022 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00pm at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford.
