Ms. Darlene Audy

A memorial service for Ms. Darlene Audy, 63 of Jacksonville, will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 5:00 pm in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Chaplain Dale Hollingsworth will be officiating. The family will receive friends on the same day from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. Ms. Audy passed away on June 25, 2023. Survivors include: Suretta Wade Blair, Matthew Blair, Scott Bates, Brian Bates, Donna Audy, Regina Audy Akery, Brittney Langley, Will Langley, Christopher Akery, Carter Akery, Chandler Akery, Joseph Bates, Mason Bates, Gabe Hulbert, Alison Hulbert Marion, Christopher Taylor, and Joshua Taylor, Isa Audy Nicklous, Casey Nicklous, Emily Nicklous-Wynn, Sawyer Nicklous, Scott Audy Jr. She is preceded in death by: Oscar and Laura Wade, Mary Virginia Wade Audy, Donald Eugene Audy, David Bates, Deborah Lynne "Debbie" Blair Taylor, Van Curtis Blair, Teresa Pettus Hulbert, Robert JeffreyPettus, Sidney Wade Williams, Helen Wade McGuire, Dorothy "Nelda" Wade Pettus, Ernest Audy, and Dorothy Vezina Audy. Dianne Audy, Gale Audy, Scott Audy Sr, Robert Audy. During Darlene's formative years, she acted as protector and provider for her two younger sisters. She cooked for them and cared for them while her mom worked day and night to keep the family unit together. As an adult, Darlene continued to put the needs of others first. She always made sure that she did whatever she could to make the world a better place for her friends and loved ones. She lived the commandment, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." She was a Gadsden High School "Class of 1977" graduate. She then attended Jacksonville State University where she majored in Art and Psychology. As a student at JSU she assisted teachers and students in the Learning Lab. After graduation, she worked as an advertising sales representative at the Jacksonville News. Then she became a sales representative for Nextel. After retiring from her sales career, she fell in love with her current work as a case manager working with adults with special needs. Darlene especially loved the work she did with Habitat for Humanity and Second Chance shelter. She was also on the board of directors for 2nd Chance. She loved to work in the Community Garden and cook for her family. Darlene will be greatly missed!
