Mrs. Betty Jean Bailey Haynes

A funeral service for Mrs. Betty Jean Bailey Haynes, of Oxford, will be on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Toby Miller Chapel at Miller Funeral Home. Bro. Mike Benson and Bro. Charles Box will be officiating. A burial will follow the service at Oxford Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on the same day from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Mrs. Haynes passed away on December 5, 2020 at her home. She is survived by her children, Jim Haynes (Sherrie), Sam Haynes (Deb), Missy Hall (Richard), Melinda Sanford (Todd); sister, Pat Sergio Wood (Jerry); brother in law, Donald Duncan; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 grand cats, and several nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim W. Haynes; sister, Gwen Duncan, and her parents, Monk and Mae Bailey. Pallbearers will be Ben Haynes, Nathan Haynes, Jacob Sanford, Josh Sanford, Chris Sanford, Colby Sanford, Sam Kellett, and Gustavo Poumian. Honorary pallbearers will be Katrina Haynes, Anna Kellett, Abby Poumian, Katie Haynes, Emily Mitchell and Sam Brooks. Mrs. Haynes was an active and charter member of the Oxford Church of Christ. She was active in the youth group and was a Sunday School teacher for the first and second grade students. She was a 1955 graduate of Anniston High School. After graduation, she became a LPN through Gadsden State. She also got her bachelors degree in elementary education from Jacksonville State University. She was an OR nurse at RMC for 25 years before her retirement. She was also a substitute teacher in the Oxford School System. Mrs. Haynes was a charter member of the board at Rainbow Omega. She was active in the Oxford Band Boosters for 15 years. Mrs. Haynes was the Miss Oxford Pageant coordinator for 8 years. She also enjoyed volunteering at Diversicare and church. Mrs. Haynes was devoted to her family. She will be much beloved as a mom, Granny, Aunt Betty, Mrs. Betty, and Momma Haynes. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Linda Silas, Connie Robertson, Judy Gass, Gail Norton, Martha Jones, Judy Beasley, Frank and Carolee Warneke, Dr. Vance Moore, as well as the rest of her church family, for all the love, care, support and prayers they have given to Mrs. Haynes.
