Vernon M Sanders

Funeral services for Vernon M. Sanders, age 67 of Lincoln, will be 10am, Wednesday, August 17th in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Larry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinson Cemetery in Ohatchee. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8:30 at Miller Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders died Sunday at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Janis Parton Sanders; son, Randall Sanders and his wife Tracy of Lincoln, Brent Sanders of Loves Park, Illinois; granddaughters, Shelby Sanders, Raegan Sanders both of Lincoln; brothers: Curtiss Sanders and his wife Jane of Lithia Springs, Ga., Bobby and Jean Sanders of Powder Springs, Ga.; sister, Frances Phillips and her husband, Edward of Panama City, Fl., Father-in-law, M.C. “Top” Parton of Lincoln, sister –in-laws, Sharon Brock and her husband, Ellis of Rainbow City, Judy Hill and her husband Phillip of Southside; brother-in-law, Curtis Parton and his wife, Beverly of Villa Rica, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Maudine Sanders; sister, Mary Ann Stallman, and by his brother, Harvey Sanders. Pallbearers will be Shawn Hill, Seth Hill, Scott Fields, Lonny Watson, Keith Sanders, Todd Sanders, Stuart Sanders, and Daniel Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Burgess, Jerry Watson, Donald Fields, and Baxter Moore. Mr. Sanders began his career in the mail room at Moore Business Forms in Heflin, he retired from there as Director of Compensation at the corporate office in Bannockburn, Il. He went on to work in similar positions for AT&T Broadband in Dallas, Tx., Radio Shack Corporation in Fort Worth, Tx., and Walgreens Corporate office in Deerfield, Il. He was a devoted family man and was a member of Union Grove Congregational Methodist Church. Mr Sanders enjoyed traveling and spending time with his granddaughters. In quote from his granddaughter Shelby, “10 days shy of my 20th birthday, I lost the most loving and intelligent man I have ever known”, I will love and miss you forever. Raegan, was her grandpa’s biggest advocate, and had the unique gift of providing him laughter.
