A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Miller Funeral Home in the Toby Miller Chapel at 2:00 P.M. The family will accept friends two hours prior to the service starting at 12:00 P.M. Shane Lecroy will be officiating. Tonya L. Merrigan passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Tonya is survived by her husband, Bret D. Merrigan; her two children, Brittany C. Merrigan, Hunter D. Merrigan; her four grandkids, Annaleigh R. Merrigan, Oliver M. McCauley, Sadie F. McCauley, Aubriella G. Christopher; her mother, Carolyn Moncrief (Doug); her three sisters, Cynthia D. Henley, Stephanie McCollum, Kristina Garcia, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her father Roger; her grandparents Robert and Flora Tonya L. Merrigan was born from humble beginnings. Throughout her life she had a love for math, science, art, music, sports, outdoors, education and family. She had an altruistic approach to life and to everyone she had a relationship with. She was a registered nurse and nurse practitioner. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, master of science in nursing and master of business administration. She worked in the nursing industry for 30+ years. She was the oldest daughter to three sisters, a caring wife, a loving mother, a loving grandmother and a supportive friend to many. Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” A heart of gold, a spirit bright, A beacon shining through the night, With selfless hands and gentle grace, You leave a smile on every face. Your deeds, a tapestry of care, For others' burdens, you always share, No thought of self, just pure desire, To fan the flames of love's bright fire. Like a soft rain on thirsty ground, Your kindness flows, no bounds are found, A soothing balm for weary souls, A story that the world extolls. In every act, a gift so true, A testament to what we can do, To lift the fallen, mend the torn, A life of giving, beautifully born. So thank you, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend, for all you give, The light you bring, the joy you live, Your altruistic soul, a guiding star, A legacy that will forever last far.
