Sonya Ellainea Lewis was born January 16, 1970 in Austell, Georgia. She entered eternal rest on February 19, 2025 surrounded by her family. Her early years were spent in Georgia, where she attended South Cobb High School. She relocated to Alabama as a young adult and began laying the foundation for our family. A wife and best friend to her husband for over 20 years, together they loved and guided 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Never one to shy away from hard work, she wore many hats throughout life. She successfully ventured every career path from vacation sales to launching her own custom cake business. There was nothing she couldn't do. After retiring from BAE Systems, she later transitioned into a caretaker for several special families. Most notably, the sweet woman she would grow to love as a mother, Mrs. Betty. Finally realizing what we all knew all along, her true passion in life was loving and caring for others. She was a woman of many skills. She loved to garden and had a green thumb that was unmatched. Often showing her affection by preparing a meal or a favorite dish, she loved to feed her family and friends. She spent her favorite days with her grandchildren. But if she had a chance to take a break, a trip to her favorite casino came only second place to a day at the beach. She was a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on for many. Her walk of life had given her some sort of insight on almost every situation. She provided a source for unconditional love, free of any judgment. She spent many years volunteering her love through the Narcotics Anonymous program. In 2016, she earned her certification to become a Subtance Abuse Counselor and Peer Support Specialist. She proudly shared her own journey as a testimony of God's love and hope for others. Her family was truly proud of the woman she was. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Larry Lewis. Children: Farrah Stephens (Crystal), Brandi Russell (Brandon), Ashley Manning (Justin), Tyler Lewis, and Quartis Matthews. Grandchildren: Breonna Russell, MaLeiah Manning, Malachai Manning, Devante Ackles Jr, Armani Matthews, Kannen Matthews, and Choyce Matthews. She is now reunited in Heaven with her Mother, Mary Belle Stephens; Grandmother, Cledia Mae Woods; Uncle, David Stephens; and second mother, Betty Ruth Nichols. Services will be provided by Miller Funeral Home in Oxford, Alabama with: Visitation on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 6:00p-8:00p. Funeral on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 12:00pm. Final resting place will be Maple Grove Cemetary in Alexandria, Al. Repass and fellowship to follow at Miller Event Center in Oxford, Alabama. Paul bearers: Farrah Stephens, Jerry Lewis, Joe Mullally, A.J. Martin, Denelius Wilson, and Curtis McGhee.
