Scott Odell Presson, 60, of Oxford, Alabama passed away on July 28, 2026. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home in the Toby Miller Chapel from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 3:00. Dr. Mack Amis will be officiating the service with Don Gober speaking as well. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kimberly Pepe Presson; daughter, Samantha (Keats Rivas); sister, Terri Cline (Donald); mother-in-law, Dian Pepe; sister-in-law, Shari Doyal (Tim); sister-in-law, Diana Harrison (Derry) and many extended family members including Sophie their cat. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Sandra Presson; father-in-law, Matt Pepe; as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles. Scott was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church where he was a percussionist with Kim in the orchestra and a ringer in the Handbell Choir for the past 12 years. He was also a member of the Cheaha Winds Community Band for the past 3 years where he served as President on the Executive Committee. His love for Kim and playing percussion began when he joined the drumline of the Walter Wellborn Highlander Band where he played tenors throughout his high school years, graduating in 1983. He also played in the Troy State University Sound of the South marching band and Troy State Symphonic Band where he graduated in 1987. In addition to his love of serving through music, he loved to support the interests of his daughter. He supported The March of Dimes and served as a local ambassador for the organization, which helps babies like Samantha who are born prematurely or have major health challenges. Throughout her school years, he served with a group of other dads as a Girl Scout Dad for Cottaquilla Council Girl Scout Troop 133 and a Band Booster member and officer for the Oxford High School Sound of Champions Band. He had a great love of building and refurbishing things with his dad and friends Joe Glad and Steven Platt. In lieu of flowers, tax-deductible donations can be made to Parker Memorial Baptist Church and the Cheaha Winds Community Band. The family thanks the loving and caring nurses Christie Studdard (Enhabit Home Health) and Leigh Anne Maccareeth (Dr. Wilfredo Grana’s office), the members of Parker Memorial Baptist Church prayer room, choir and orchestra and Cheaha Winds Community Band members and all of their friends and family for their prayers and support through this difficult time. As a believer in Jesus and a loving and caring husband and father, we know Scott’s absence here means he is present in Heaven. We have faith that this isn’t “goodbye.” It’s “see you soon.” As The Lord prepares a place for our family where we’ll all eventually be, we can only imagine how wonderful that eternal home will be. We have no challenge imagining that one of Heaven’s newest construction crew leaders is very particular.
