A funeral service for Mrs. Rubye Robertson Smith, 84 of Oxford, will be on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on the same day from 3:00 pm until the time of the service. A burial will take place on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Coldwater Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Smith passed away on May 6, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Teri Grant (Greg) and Toni Smith; grandchildren, Davey Leverett (Breeana), Daniel Leverett, Ben Grant; great grandson, Cove Leverett; sisters, Teresa Buttke and Charlene Megginson; sister-in-law, Joyce Boyer (Dave), and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kyle D. Smith, and her parents, James R. Robertson and Maxine Murray Robertson. Pallbearers will be Davey Leverett, Ben Grant, Andrew Buttke, Daniel Leverett, Bobby Buttke, and Greg Grant. Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Oxford, Alabama. She was a 1960 graduate of Oxford High School. She married the love of her life, Kyle D. Smith, on November 19, 1960, in Buena Park, California. Mrs. Smith was a member of Coldwater Baptist Church. She was previously employed at Anniston Army Depot and Sears. Mrs. Smith was a member of Anniston Women’s Bowling Association, serving in many official positions, and being inducted into the local Hall of Fame. She was an avid league bowler, participating in many state and national tournaments. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, especially her great grandson, Cove. She loved her family fiercely, near and far. She was a fabulous cook and was required to make the dressing at all family gatherings. She loved her Hallmark movies and eagerly looked forward to her annual beach trip with her daughters. She was an avid Bunco player playing with a great group of ladies for many years. Trips to the casino were a highlight and fall Saturdays were spent cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. She has resided at Autumn Cove Assisted Living since December, where she made many new friends and reconnected with friends she had not seen in many years. The family wishes to thank the staff of Autumn Cove and Enhabit Hospice for their unwavering love and support. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Rubye’s name.
