Ms. Monica Reena Carlisle was born on December 25, 1971, in Anniston, Alabama, to Elizabeth Carlisle and Charles T. Clark, Jr. A devoted believer, Monica accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained a faithful member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama. She was spiritually nurtured under the pastoral leadership of Reverend William S. Fields, Reverend Frederick Allen, and Reverend Walter L. Solomon Sr. Monica graduated from Anniston High School in 1990 and furthered her studies at Gadsden Business College. A lifelong learner, she continued to expand her knowledge later in life by enrolling at the University of Phoenix. She proudly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in June of 2010. Despite Monica's physical limitations, she was a remarkably dedicated and hardworking individual. For the past three years, she excelled as a telecommunications team lead with World Travel Service of Knoxville, TN. In addition, she was the proud owner of her own business, Nspired by Moni, where she showcased her creativity by crafting unique handmade beaded jewelry, ink pens, lanyards, key chains, and a variety of other one-of-a-kind creations. Monica had a remarkable gift for finding joy in life’s simplest moments. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially with her precious grandbabies. She also found happiness in listening to music, crafting, and dancing. Always radiating warmth and positivity, Monica will be remembered most for the depth and fierceness of her love, which touched every life she encountered. She was not only our greatest supporter but also our dearest friend, a constant source of strength and encouragement. Her love was pure and radiant, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. On January 23, 2025, Monica peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal home with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard David Carlisle, Catherine Ruff Carlisle, Charles T. Clark Sr., and Marie Clark, as well as her uncle, David Lamar Carlisle, aunt, Mary Carlisle Oden, and her beloved four-legged companion, Prada. Though her absence creates a profound void, we take solace in knowing that time and God’s grace will help mend our hearts. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her only child, LaToya (Anthony) Houzah; her beloved grandchildren, Ny'lah, Nia, and Harli Houzah; her devoted mother, Elizabeth (Jerome) Carlisle and dad, Charles (Natalie) Clark Jr.; her sisters, Monique Carlisle, Sadrina (Eric) Davis, and sister-in-love, Mia (Matthew) Duncan; her brothers, Terrance and Trey Clark, along with brothers-in-love, Toussant Trammell, Charlie Mack, and Eric Woods. She is also survived by her uncles, Tyrone (Yong Chu) Carlisle, Milton Carlisle, and Bobby Lee (Carolyn) Oden; her aunts, Delores Carlisle, Bernita Rushing, Letha Clark, and aunt-in-love, Minnie Woods; her cherished nieces, Jasmine Grier and Makhia and McKenna Bradford; her nephew, Justin (Lauren) Grier; and her godchildren, Deonte Elston and Ta'Quisha Harrell. Additionally, she is lovingly remembered by her honorary daughters, "The Chics," along with a host of cherished cousins and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
