Our beloved Marcia June Ray (Cheatwood), age 74, of Pell City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, surrounded by love. Marcia was born on December 18, 1950, to Jimmy and Mary Francis Cheatwood. She grew up in Oxford, Alabama, where she attended the Oxford City School System and later graduated from Gadsden Business College. Marcia worked hard throughout her life, spending many dedicated years with Fisher Industries and later Tape Craft Corporation before retiring. Marcia had a creative heart and a joyful spirit. She loved making arts and crafts, and she could always find beauty in the small things. The beach was her happy place — she loved the sound of the waves, the feel of the sand, and the peace it brought her. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family. Her gentle and loving presence filled every room she entered. Above all, Marcia’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her home was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories — often shared with her faithful cat and companion, “Buddy.” Marcia was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Jimmy and Mary Francis Cheatwood; her husband, Wayland Ray; her daughter, Gina Quinkert; her brother, Derrell Cheatwood; her granddaughter, Ivy Vincent; and her great-grandson, Jackson Vandiver. She leaves behind her son, Robert Lee Richards (Shannon) of Perdido Key, FL, her daughter, Kellie Denise Ashley (Antonio) of Oxford, AL and stepdaughters Stacy Ray of Athens, AL and Cristy Ray of Choccolocco, AL. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren — Jessica Pilkin (Wesley), Amy Vandiver, Antonio Ashley Jr. (Tiffany), Alissa Ashley, Tory McCrelles, Kyara Wynn, Savanna Richards, Makaylee Richards, Chloe Wilkins and Sierra Tucker (TJ) — and her great-grandchildren — Kynnedi Pilkin, Antonio Ashley III, Kaden Watts, Kailani Randolph, Sage Jackson, Alayna Scott, Eden McCrelles, Aubree Jackson and Rylee Tucker. She is also survived by her brother, Steve (Gayle) Cheatwood of Oxford, AL, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly. Marcia will always be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the love she so freely gave. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A time of gathering will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home, Crematory, and Aquamation Center located at 50 Hamric Dr E Oxford, Alabama 36203.
