Mr. Lois Carter Jr.

Lois Carter Jr, 88 of Oxford Alabama passed on August 8, 2025. Due to his wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mission Fund at Golden Springs Baptist Church in Lois' memory. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan G. Carter; children, Mike Carter (Zana) and Marsha Carter Turner; grandchildren, Dexter Carter, Courtney Colina (Nick), Brett Carter, and Tristan Turner; great grandchildren, Cole Carter, Iris Carter, and Raelynn Carter; nephews, Bill Carter and Joe Carter; as well as a niece, Denise Williamson. He is preceded in death by his father, Lois Hamilton Carter; mother, Nora Carter; sisters, Margert Houser, Louise Munn, Virginia Casey, and Francis Riley; brother, Grover Carter; and son in law, Karl K. Turner. Lois graduated from Jacksonville High school in 1956. He played football at Jacksonville and still has many friends from there. In 1957 he married Joan Gann and created a beautiful life together; they were married for 67 amazing years. He was in The National Guard at Jacksonville Armory and also coached Jr high football at Oxford with Jack Grizzard and was the president for the Oxford Baseball youth program. Lois served on the Parks and Recreation Board as well. He attended and taught the men’s Sunday School class for the teenagers and highschoolers at Trinity Baptist Church in the 60's as well as Meadowbrook Baptist Church in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s. He enjoyed reading David Jeremiah and had almost every book he ever wrote. Lois worked at M&H Valve and retired after 34 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Alabama Crimson Tide, and taking up golfing. In his golfing career he had four hole in one’s and passed the love and passion of golfing down to his son and grandson’s. Lois loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren; he was the definition of a family man. Lois was everything the Lord expected us to be on this Earth and the family is comforted in knowing where he is today. Lois finished off on this Earth with a round of golf, a good meal, and sitting and enjoying the hummingbirds before he met his Savior face to face.
