Mr. Joseph Kyle Rooks

A funeral service for Mr. Joseph Kyle Rooks will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 12:00 pm. This will take place in the Toby Miller Chapel at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford, AL. His long-time friend, youth pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Tracy Shaddix will honor the family in officiating the service. A burial will follow the funeral service at Antioch Baptist Church in Oxford, AL. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, as well as from 10:00 am Saturday until the time of the service at the Toby Miller Chapel. Joseph Kyle Rooks passed away on November 26, 2022 at approximately 2:45 am doing one of the things he found the most joy in, riding with his friends at Top Trails in Talladega, AL. He leaves behind to cherish his beloved memory, his wife of 21 years, Kimberly Dopson Rooks; children oldest to youngest, Kayla Justine Rooks (Derek), Morgan Kay Jones, Joseph Kane Rooks (Jade), Jarrod Kendall Rooks (Paige), Gordon Chandler Jones (Kinsley), Kylie Alexis Rooks, and doggo, J. Roscoe Rooks; brothers, Daniel Lee Rooks and Kevin Douglas Rooks (Jennifer); grandchildren oldest to youngest, Grayson Alexander Phillips, Braylee Elizabeth Jones, Easton Josiah Mancil, Caroline Elizabeth Clark, Joryn Kaneslee Rooks, Jackson Kash Rooks, Kyla Jolene Allen, Joseph Keaton Rooks, Hudson Beau Jones, Montana Reese Rooks-Birdie; nieces and nephews, Cortney Medley (Johnna), Casey Lindsey (Stephanie), Colby Craighead, Lauren Collins (Jeffery), Jacob Rooks (Peyton), Amber Rooks, Baylie Rooks, Trey Higgins, Maddison Angle; and confidant Joyce Cardwell (Chris); godson, Kyler Gibson, extended family members, and too many friends to name. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Rooks, father, William Gary Rooks, and his brother, William Keith Rooks. Pallbearers to lift him to his resting place will be longtime friends Justin Lackey, Shawn Gibson, Brian Kidd, Scott Hubbard, Ariel Rivera, and Jeff Bonner. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Lackey, Michael Bear Edmondson, and the entire R & R Construction Crew. Joseph Kyle Rooks will be remembered for many things from his Earthly walk. The first is his adoring, passionate love for his children and grandchildren which will last for lifetimes to come. There wasn’t anyone who really knew Kyle that didn’t understand his unending love and faithful devotion for his family. Kyle was a tremendous friend to so many individuals throughout his childhood and into his adult life. So many that accurately describing and naming his “extended” family couldn’t possibly be numbered as stated above. Kyle enjoyed laughing and joking with friends, operating heavy equipment, riding big boy toys for a bit of adrenaline, staying covered in mud, supporting his children’s ambitions and needs, and enjoying his life as much as he was possibly able to. He was a dedicated business owner that transformed moving specs of dirt into a tremendously successfully corporation, R & R Contractors, with the help of his beloved brother Kevin Douglas, his mother Mary Elizabeth, and his cousin Joyce Cardwell. Kyle had a compassionate and giving heart that craved peace for all. He noticed when life was out of order or becoming too heavy for others and never failed to hop in to assist. From helping families out at Christmas time, bills that were falling behind, filling the void of children who lost or had absent fathers, hopping on a tractor and moving dirt for friends who were in need, to devoting countless hours and supplies to refresh Munford High School Softball field and the entire Munford community. Kyle kept strong moral values that he instilled into his children that can never be shaken. He served as an unmoving rock (Pop Rock) to each one of them and countless of extended friends and family in their times of need. He will forever be remembered for all the good times, compassion, and mercy he shared with this world.
