John Buchanan

Weaver- John Edward ‘Buck’ Buchanan, our precious husband and father went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2014. Our loving daddy was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. Funeral services will be on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Jack Morgan, Earl Tucker, and Rev. Frank Hannie. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Jacksonville. Visitation will be from 12-2. He leaves behind to cherish his memories a wife of 50 years, Marlene Buchanan of Weaver, sons, Phillip(Karen) Munn of Blue Mountain, John(Ruth) Buchanan Jr. of Saks, Chris Buchanan of Weaver, daughters, Tammy Buchanan of Oxford, and Stacy Buchanan of Oxford, sister, Ellen(Jim) Partridge of Anniston, sister-in-laws, Bettie Cavender of Heflin and Hazel Allen of Eufaula, brother-in-laws, Billy Partridge of Oxford and Tom Partridge of Andalusia, grandchildren, Blake Beane, Michael Buchanan, Jordan Beane, Bradley Buchanan, Hunter Buchanan, and Dalton Dalrymple, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Buchanan is preceded in death by his parents, Cheed and Lottie Buchanan, son, Timothy Wayne Buchanan, sisters, Ruby Noland and Ethel Wilkerson, and a brother, Alton Buchanan. Pallbearers will be Johnathan Cofield, Scott Nowland and grandsons. Mr. Buchanan was a veteran of the Korean War. He served in the National Guard for four years. He also served in the Navy for four years on the ship USS Dixie. He retired from Federal Mogul Corporation in Jacksonville after being there for 26 years. He was an inspector in shipping and packing. He was a member of New Cannon Baptist Church in Blue Mountain but in his final days attended Friendship Baptist of Jacksonville. Mr. Buchanan was a humble, loving, caring father and grandfather. He enjoyed attending Sunday School and serving as an usher when he could. He liked to go fishing, walking and swimming. He had a passion for gospel and bluegrass music and watching Alabama football and Western movies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Alabama Hospice Care of Oxford, The Rocket Rest, Gary and Patsy Marbut Tetresa Lathem, Maxilee Gonzales, Johnathan Cofield and Chris Abernathy.
