Mr. Jerry Olen Tucker, 81 of Roanoke, Alabama passed away at Diversicare nursing home in Oxford, Alabama on December 7, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. A visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 12:00pm to 1:00pm with a funeral service in the Toby Miller Chapel at 1:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Oxford Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Reverend Ronny Moore and Reverend Chuck Jaggers will be officiating. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Andrea Tucker; children, Cindy Moore (Chris) of Ranburne, Al, Steve Tucker (Jennifer) of Athens, Al, and Mekeisha Bowden (Jody) of Marbury, Al; brothers, James “Butch” Thrasher (Linda Reaves), Charles Randall “Randy” Thrasher (Pat), and Joseph Anthony “Tony” Thrasher (Julie); sister, Paula “Penny” Hammonds; mother-in-law, Aurelia Gilley of Prattville, Al; brother-in-law, Reverend Larry Gilley(Joan) of Pensacola, Fl; grandchildren, Jason (Brandy) Moore, Becky (Travis) Hinton, Madison Tucker, Kaiden Tucker, Savannah Bowden. Aubree Bowden, Will Bowden, Ashlyn Bowden, Tristen Queen, and Mason Queen; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special aunt, Flora Poe. He is preceded in death by his father, Pvt. Ellis Stephen Tucker; mother, Jewell Poe Thrasher; stepfather, Charles Temple “Spike” Thrasher; grandparents, Rev. Dave and Liz Tucker and Aaron and Molly Poe; father-in-law, Dewitt Gilley; sisters-in-law, Carol Driggers and Jean Thrasher; brothers-in-law, Donnie Driggers and Steve Hammonds; grandson, Johnny Lee Moore. Pallbearers will be Patrick House, Jeff Burney, Michael Payne, Dennis Callahan, Brock Sanderson, and Jerrod Kirkpatrick. Mr. Jerry Olen Tucker was a warrior for the Lord. He was a member of West Point Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Alabama, and a member of IBEW Local 136 Birmingham, Alabama. He was an electrician for 39 years. Besides loving the Lord, he loved and adored his family and was a great mentor to many friends and co-workers. His body succumbed to Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and was in remission from chronic myeloid leukemia. In the Light of Glory, He is keeping the light on for all who will come.
