Elizabeth “Bibby” Kerr Cunningham, 92, of Anniston, AL, entered into her heavenly home on October 1, 2023, following a short illness. She passed away at home surrounded by family members. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Herbert Cunningham, daughters Donna Cunningham Stephens (David), Janet Cunningham Dobbins (Joe), Ellen Cunningham Hughes (Jerry), a son, Keith Morgan Cunningham (Karen), eleven grandchildren – Amy Stephens McAmis (Greg), Lt. Col. Alan Stephens (April), Alyson Dobbins Mims (Scott), David Dobbins (April), Stephanie Cunningham Kent (Keith), Ben Cunningham, Laura Ellen Mahan (Luke), Matthew Higgins, Cassie Cunningham, Garrett Cunningham, and Hilary Cunningham, five step-grandchildren – Christopher Hughes, Zac Hughes, Isaac Hughes, Ani Hughes, and Will Hughes, fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Morgan and Myrtle Perry Kerr, a sister, Charlotte Kerr Hagerty, two brothers, John Morgan Kerr II, and Perry Lee Kerr, and a son, Rodney Lynn Cunningham. She was born May 27, 1931, in Roanoke, Alabama, but Anniston was her home. After graduating from Anniston High School in 1948, she graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1951. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed painting portraits, still life, landscapes, and flowers, with oil, watercolor, pastels, and other mediums. She is well-known and remembered for making and dressing porcelain dolls and donating them to the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary to auction for support of the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter for Abused Women and Children. Being a talented seamstress, she enjoyed sewing for her family. She taught Art, French, Spanish, English, and Math at Anniston High School, Oxford High School, and Johnston Junior High School. As an active member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School in many age groups, was involved in many mission activities, including Women on Mission, and went to Honduras on mission trips for eight years. She was a mighty prayer warrior. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Parker Memorial Baptist Church, Anniston, Alabama, with burial to follow in Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 4, from 12:00pm – 2:00 pm in the Church Parlor. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Touching Our World Missions Offering through Parker Memorial Baptist Church, Samaritan’s Purse, or Tunnels 2 Towers. The family wishes to thank Heavenly Host of Angels for their compassionate caregiving and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for their care.
