Dorothy 'Dot' Parker Williams Curvin, 88, of Oxford Al passed away peacefully at her home on Monday April 27th. A celebration of her life will be held at Miller Event Center, 30 East Hamric Dr. Oxford AL, on Saturday May 16th at 2:30 PM. Dot was born in Anniston AL on February 10th 1938, to Troy and Vergie Parker. Very early on she was adventure loving, free spirited and the world's consummate animal lover. She brought fun and laughter to everyone. Dot could entertain for hours on end with her cool and unique stories about most anything, but most of all, her family, friends, and animals. Dot was preceded in death by her first husband, Don R. Williams, her son Richard Blake Williams, her second husband James R. 'Jimmy' Curvin, son Roger Curvin, a great granddaughter Eleanore James Curvin, her parents Troy and Vergie Parker, sister Sara Taylor, and brother Travis Parker. She is survived by granddaughters Brooke Williams, Madison Allen (Stan), great granddaughters Caroline and Catherine Allen, and Mavis Grace Curvin, son Jon Curvin, grandsons J.R. Curvin, Ragan Curvin, Riley Curvin (Kaylie) , brother Terry Parker (Jane), sister-in-law Helen Parker, a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends that she so easily made throughout her life, and a special friend of 72 years, Peggy Bennett. She loved her current rescue dogs, Sadie and Harvey very much. They both won the dog lottery when she took them into her home! Dot graduated from Oxford High school, which was then known as Calhoun County High school. She was a dental hygienist for Drs. Harold and John Hollingsworth for over 50 years. She partnered with husband Jimmy in raising cows on their 200 acre farm and training competitive bird dogs, winning three National championships. They had one dog inducted into the National Bird Dog Hall of Fame. Dot volunteered with the Auburn Canine Detection Center and did socialization training of several dogs for that organization. Her favorite graduate was 'Elvis' who eventually worked at the New York State Port Authority. The ultimate Alabama football fan, Dot enjoyed attending games and later found joy in watching the Crimson Tide football team on TV, even if it was a rerun from 10 years ago! Dot closely followed granddaughter Brooke's cheerleading at Saks High school and granddaughter Madison's golf activities at Alexandria High School. She was thrilled when Brooke graduated from the University of Alabama and when Madison played college golf. Dot loved it when her great granddaughters visited her. She once said the twins 'were like a whirlwind'. As her mobility decreased, she loved the visits from Catherine and Caroline. For the past two years, Dot was tenderly cared for by a group of caregivers who loved her and made her feel like a queen every day. Paula Thompson, Rhonda Brickhouse, Sherree Holland, Marti Ouchley-Oakes, Michelle Barnes, Jamie Barnes, Brenda Mayfield, and Vickie Rivers. They certainly made Dot's days more enjoyable in the last years of her life.
