With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, Billie Midkiff, a cherished 89-year old resident of Oxford, Alabama, who peacefully departed this world on February 26, 2024. Billie was born in Utica, Ky. to the late Lonnie and Bessie Midkiff. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever endure. Born on February 11, 1935, Billie was a man of many passions. He found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life, from watching racing events with enthusiasm to tending to his yard and cars with care and dedication. Whether he was cheering on his favorite drivers or meticulously grooming his yard or working under the hood of his car, he approached each endeavor with a genuine love and passion that was truly infectious. Billie was not only a pillar of strength within his family but also a pillar of his community. His kindness knew no bounds, and he touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or offering words of comfort to a friend in distress, he exemplified the true meaning of compassion and empathy. Though Billie may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on eternally in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire and uplift us in the days ahead. In honor of Billie's memory, let us carry forward the values of love, kindness, and compassion that he so wholeheartedly embodied. May we find solace in the knowledge that he has now found peace in the arms of eternity, forever watching over us with love from above. Billie is reunited in heaven with his parents, Lonnie and Bessie Midkiff, son Randy Midiff, sister, Anna Muriel Howard, brothers, Paul Midkiff and Barrett Midkiff, and grandson David Midkiff. He was also greeted in Heaven by his devoted wife of 68 years, Carrie Midkiff, who went to be with the Lord less than a year ago. He is survived by his beloved children, Byron Midkiff (Geri), Greg Midkiff (Tina), Cindy Garcia (Paul), and daughter in law Brenda Midkiff, whose lives were enriched by his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering love. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Ronnie Midkiff (Elizabeth), Carrie Sargent (William), Miranda Frobisher (San), Kassie Midkiff, Erik Midkiff, Jennifer Turner (Jason), Christy McCullough (Jason), Megan Midkiff (Charlie), Joey Midkiff, Adam Midkiff, Noah Midkiff, Ashley Garcia, and Lance Garcia, great grandchildren, Jackson Midkiff, Raegan Midkiff, Conner Sargent, Logan Sargent, Lilly Frobisher, Eli Hatcher, Shelby Hatcher, Kyle Clapper (Rachel), Matthew Turner, Mary Birchfield (Coley), Brodie McCullough, Baylie McCullough, Abby Midkiff-Fox, and a recently added great-great grandson Atlas Clapper, each a testament to the enduring bonds of family that Billie held so dear. Though his physical presence may be gone, the love and memories he imparted upon us will forever remain etched in our hearts.He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Miller Funeral Home. We will honor his memory with a funeral service on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 1:00pm with Rev. Aaron Argo officiating. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery Anniston, Al. Pallbearers will be Erik Midkiff, Joey Midkiff, Noah Midkiff, Lance Garcia, Charlie Nobels Jr., and Jason McCullough, honorary pallbearers Adam Midkiff and Brodie McCullough. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, may we take comfort in the knowledge that Billie is now at peace, surrounded by the everlasting love of those who have gone before him. Rest in peace, daddy. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
