Mr. Mack W. Green Sr

A funeral service for Mr. Mack W. Green, Sr., 87 of Oxford, will be on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Toby Miller Chapel at Miller Funeral Home. A burial will follow the service at Iron City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on the same day from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mack passed away peacefully at his home on May 5, 2024 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Logene Green; children, Rebecca Reed (Bill), Melissa Matus-Nedeva (Nedyo), Theresa Wiley (George), Will Green (Emily); step children, Janice Cotton, Don Cofield (Cathy), Cathy Key (Mitch), Rodney Cofield; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, and a host of extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Quill and Zonia Green; brother, Ralph Green; sister, Wilma Woodall, and his grandson, Jason Cotton. Pallbearers will be Will Green, Mark Matus, Justin Cofield, Brandon Cotton, Brett Key, and Chad Key. Mack was born in Canton, Georgia and spent most of his early adult life in Georgia. He moved to Oxford, Alabama, where he has resided for 44 years. He was a truck driver for 35+ years and worked for the City of Oxford for 20 years. Mack was an avid golfer and was exceptional at the game. He represented Oxford in The Masters Games of Alabama winning golf singles, pitch, and putt. He was State Champion of The Masters Games of Alabama in 2013 and 2017. Mack loved music and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He played in a band in his younger years, but his love for music continued throughout his life. Some of his favorites were Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, and Willie Nelson. He also loved sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and college football (War Eagle!). Mack loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never missed an l opportunity to support them and loved to brag on their accomplishments. Mack was so loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed! The family would like to extend a special thank you to his sister in law, Nobia O’Dell, and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice, especially Brooke Hiett, for the love and care shown to Mack and his family.
