James Ira ‘Jim’ Grizzard Jr., 57 of Oxford, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he loved with all his heart, on Saturday, September 25, 2021. A private graveside service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cobie Grizzard, Airelin Grizzard, Jaysten Grizzard, Cade Young, Zach Third, Josh Grizzard, Judd Grizzard, Jakob Grizzard, Zack Grizzard, Dillon Grizzard, Jordan Salva, Nathanael Gerami. Honorary pallbearer will be Horace Grizzard. A celebration of life service will take place on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 5:30 pm at Antioch Baptist Church on Oxford with Matt Coby officiating. Everyone will be welcome to stay for a fellowship time immediately following the service. During this time, you may visit the family. The family asks that masks be worn and social distancing practiced. Jim is survived by his family that he loved and cared for. They loved and cared for him the same. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Natalie Edwards Grizzard; sons, Justin Grizzard, Caleb Grizzard (Jenna Rogers), Cobie Grizzard (Layla Goble); daughter in love, Autumn Grizzard; grandchildren, Shaylee Grizzard, Jaysten Grizzard, Airelin Grizzard; brothers, Jody Grizzard, David (Tammy) Grizzard; sister, Tammy Gerami; mother in law, Ella McGathy; father in law, Grady Edwards (Charlotte); sisters in law, Natasha Third (Alan), Nicole Finley, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Ira Grizzard Sr.; mother, Jean Levesque Kirby; sister, Tina; brother, Patrick; niece, Heather; uncles, Wayne Grizzard, Timmy Grizzard, Michael Grizzard; aunts, Norma Grizzard, Shirley Else; grandfather, Ira Glenn Grizzard; grandmother, Zannie Grizzard; 2 angel babies, and his step father in law, Kirby McGathy. Jim loved woodworking and making knives. He had a ministry called Blades for Blessing. He had a heart for children and teaching them about Jesus. Jim and his wife worked in the Children’s Ministry for 20 years. Jim was a tree surgeon for Burford’s and Alabama Tree Service for many years until a bad injury. Jim lived his life witnessing for the Lord with everyone he met. The Lord called Jim to preach. The Lord has continued to work through Jim, even after he was called home. Thank you to Dr. Sehbia, Candence, Keonna, Ashley, Amanda for being so loving to him and our family during his cancer journey. He was 5 years cancer free. Thank you to COVID ICU, Dr. Patel and nurses, Gabby, Sloan, Brett, John, Lisa, Kris, and Hunter for making Jim’s last moments with him as special as possible. Thank you to all of the family and friends for the prayers, love, and care shown to the family. If you knew Jim, he would ask you, ‘Do you know where you are going if you die today?’ John 14:6, “Jesus answered, I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes through the Father, except through me.” We love y’all.
