Freda Webb Ireland, 80, of Oxford, AL passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, surrounded by family August 15, 2024. She was born April 20, 1944 in Talladega, Alabama to Florence Evelyn (Sharpe) and Alva Taylor Webb,Sr. After graduating from Gadsden High School in 1962, she enrolled in Auburn University and earned a B.S. in Laboratory Technology and then went on to earn a B.S. in Medical Technology from Emory University. After college, she gained employment at Orange County hospital in Orlando Florida. After moving to Panama City, Florida, she began working as a civil servant at the Tyndall AFB hospital. In 1982, she moved to Oxford, Alabama and continued her civil service career at the Anniston Army Depot in the environmental quality laboratory until her retirement in 1999. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Alva Webb, Sr. She is survived by a devoted husband of 44 years, William D. Ireland, Sr., sister Lynda Webb Toney (Jerry) of Gadsden, Alabama, and brother Alva T. Webb, Jr. (Nancy) of Notasulga Alabama. She is also survived by one daughter, Lisa Suzanne (White)Lindblom (Josh) of Huntsville,Alabama, step sons Michael Ireland (Kim) of Oxford,Al and William Ireland, Jr (Jenine) of Madison,Alabama, and a step-daughter, Cindy Ireland of Alpena, Michigan. Her grandchildren include: granddaughter, Julia Kathryn Lindblom,24, of Mobile, Alabama, a grandson, Conner Wood Lindblom,20, of Huntsville, Alabama, Step granddaughters Emily Ireland Moore, Kaitlyn and Carynn Ireland and Heather Tebo and a step grandson Chad Tebo , and many nieces and nephews. Freda was also very involved in the Sharpe cousins reunion held every year at the Sharpe’s home place in White Plains, Chambers County, Alabama. She was one of many of the Sharpe cousins to keep the family reunions active. In her free time, Freda enjoyed gardening and was a Certified Master Gardener as part of the Calhoun County Extension service. In addition to gardening, enjoyed crafting many items by hand, including stained glass windows, basket weaving,crochet,needlepoint among other crafts. Her most accomplished skill was that of an expert seamstress and masterful quilter. She was a long time member of the Joy Quilters club of Jacksonville, Alabama and enjoyed sharing her quilt projects with the group. The family would like to thank Freda's friend Linda Morris from Joy Quilters for offering friendship and support over the years and especially for visiting her during her illness. She and her family were long time members of Oxford United Methodist Church of Oxford Alabama and would like to thank them for their support of the family during her illness. The family would also like to thank Diversicare of Oxford Alabama and Enhabit Hospice for their compassionate care while she was under their care. Freda’s wishes were not to have a funeral service. A celebration of life with friends and family will be planned for a later date to honor Freda . Cremation services were performed by Miller Funeral Home of Oxford, Alabama. In lieu of flowers please donate to an Alzheimer's and dementia research organization in her name.
