Donna Lynn Cason Easterwood, aged 71, of Jacksonville, Alabama, was called by the Lord to eternal rest on June 25, 2022, surrounded by family in her home. A visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 11 am to 1 pm. A funeral service is to be held at Bethel Baptist Church of Delta, Alabama in Clay County at 1:45 pm. Wallace Higgins will be officiating. Burial of Mrs. Easterwood will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Easterwood was born September 21, 1950, to Willard and Juanita Cason of Heflin, Alabama. She grew up in Heflin alongside her four siblings and graduated from Cleburne County High School in 1968. Mrs. Easterwood went on to further her education, after which she became a dedicated nurse at Cleburne County Nursing Home for over ten years. On March 22, 1969, she joined the hands of Donald Neal Easterwood in marriage. From this eternal union came one daughter, Teresa, whom the two cherished and loved deeply. Mrs. Easterwood later set aside her professional nursing career to join her husband, Donald, in the management of Oxford Scrap Metal Co., Inc., one of the several scrap metal yards Donald and his brothers built from the ground up. Mrs. Easterwood assumed the title of president of the company after her husband’s passing in 1997, and remained president up until her passing. Mrs. Easterwood became “Mawmaw” in 1999 when Teresa and her son-in-law, Bruce, blessed her with the birth of her first grandson, Tyler, and again in 2003 with the birth of Riley. Her grandsons were the apple of her eye and joy in her life; she would, and did, do anything for them and with them. “Mawmaw” adored her grandsons and will always be so proud of them. Mrs. Easterwood is survived by her daughter, Teresa Easterwood Johnson (Bruce); grandchildren, Tyler Johnson and Riley Johnson; sisters, Erlene Cantrell (Eddie) and Lucy Reaves; brothers, Jesse Cason and James Cason (Karen); and several extended family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Neal Easterwood; father, Willard Cason; and mother, Juanita Cason. Pallbearers of Mrs. Easterwood will be: Tyler Johnson, Riley Johnson, Jesse Cason, James Cason, Luie Phillips, and Dale Easterwood. The family of Mrs. Easterwood would like to extend their unfeigned gratitude and appreciation to Kindred Hospice, Mrs. Easterwood’s special and beloved nurse, Amanda, and to Mrs. Easterwood’s faithful friend and caregiver, Wanda Rankin.
