It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Carrie Midkiff of Oxford, AL. on June 4, 2023 at the age of 86. Carrie was born November 26, 1936 in Owensboro, Ky. to the late Wilford Miles Simmons and Sarah Corine Crask Simmons. She married her best friend and love, Billie Midkiff, in September of 1954. Carrie was a dedicated wife and mother, first and foremost. She treasured her family every moment that she was with them. She instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. Carrie was very artistic and loved to use her hands to create pieces of art that people loved and cherished. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her son Randy Midkiff; sisters, Margaret Russell, Thelma Mattingly, and Peggy Wilhite; brothers, Dennis Simmons, Miles Simmons; grandson, David Midkiff. Carrie was the treasured wife of 68 years to Billie Midkiff, beloved mother of Byron Midkiff (Geri), Greg Midkiff (Tina), Cindy Garcia (Paul), adored mother in law of Brenda Midkiff, proud grandmother of Ronnie Midkiff (Elizabeth), Carrie Sargent (William), Miranda Frobisher (San), Kassie Midkiff, Erik Midkiff, Jennifer Turner (Jason), Christy McCullough (Jason), Megan Midkiff (Charlie), Joey Midkiff, Adam Midkiff, Noah Midkiff, Ashley Garcia, and Lance Garcia, joyful great grandmother of Jackson Midkiff, Raegan Midkiff, Conner Sargent, Logan Sargent, Lilly Frobisher, Eli Hatcher, Shelby Hatcher, Kyle Clapper (Rachel), Matthew Turner, Mary Turner, Brodie McCullough, Baylie McCullough, Abby Midkiff-Fox, dear sister of Mary Rose Carlisle (Wayne) of Owensboro, Ky. and Gilbert Simmons of Owensboro, Ky. and loved by numerous other family members and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Miller Funeral Home. We will honor her memory with a funeral service on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 with Rev. Roland Brown officiating. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery Anniston, Al. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Midkiff, Erik Midkiff, Joey Midkiff, Lance Garcia, Charlie Nobels Jr., and Jason McCullough, honorary pallbearers Adam Midkiff, Noah Midkiff and Brodie McCullough.
