Why
Pre-Pay?
Pre-paying
ones final expenses is not a new idea; in fact it is on that has been
around
for quite some time. Many people over the years have designated
life
insurance policies, Certificates of Deposit, or savings accounts.
Over
the years pre-paying ones funeral expenses can only be done through the
funeral home of one's choice. There are many reasons or "rumors"
why people choose not to pre-pay their funeral expenses. Many of
these reasons are unfounded and unsupported by virtue of the law.
Pre-paying one's funeral expenses is responsible, wise and noble.
Pre-paying relieves the survivors from having to make difficult and may
times costly decisions at the time of death. Pre-paying also
eliminates
the funeral home from having to discuss and disclose the Federal Law
pertaining
to the purchase of funeral goods and services, which eliminates taking
care of the financial obligations during the arrangement conference.

Pre-paying
Options
There
are two ways to pre-pay your funeral expenses, Insurance
or
Trust.:
1.Insurance
offers you protection from a pre-mature death. This insurance is
only available through the funeral home and can not be purchased on the
open market. This plan specifically designed by Great Western
Life
Insurance Company allows you to select funeral goods and services and
have
those covered by a tailored insurance policy to meet your individual
needs.
These plans are available in a single, 3,5, or 10-year payment
plans.
These plans have been approved by the Social Security Administration,
as
being exempt, as an accountable resource to the individual if state pay
is required for nursing home care. Insurance funding allows the
purchaser
to track the money placed into the fund and the family will be refunded
any excess interest earned by the insured fund at the death of the
individual.
Great
Western provides an automatic $500.00 away from home death benefit if
death
should occur more that 150 miles from home. An additional $500.00 away
from home benefit is available for a single payment of $10.00. Great
Western
also provides a granchild benefit for a single payment of $10.00. A one
time payment of $2500.00 is available at the death of a named
grandchild
while still a minor.
2.
The Trust Option is available for those who do not want the
insurance
protection. Money collected under the trust plan is deposited
into
the Alabama Trust or Forethought National Trust Bank to be held until
the
death of the purchaser. All income earned from the trust
investment
remains property of the trust.
One
may select funeral goods: such as the Casket and Vault, and funeral
services.
the total of the funeral goods and services selected can be financed
